Texas man charged for rioting in Minneapolis

26 year old Ivan Harrison Hunter of Boerne, Texas has been charged with participating in a riot.

Hunter has been said to be a member of the group the ‘Boogaloo Boi’s’ who have been often described as violent and anti-government. Members of the group had allegedly discussed committing crimes along with being an armed presence during the riots in Minneapolis following the death of George Floyd.

Hunter allegedly traveled to Minneapolis from Texas on May 27th and 28th with the intent to riot. A video has been found that shows the suspect firing 13 rounds of an AK-47 semiautomatic rifle into the Minneapolis Police Department’s 3rd Precinct building. Casings that are consistent with the kind of rifle have been found at the scene.

A couple of days later, a vehicle was stopped for multiple traffic violations, and Hunter was in the vehicle with an alleged six loaded magazines on his tactical vest for his AK-47 rifle. There were three other rifles in the vehicle along with two pistols say police officers.

After the traffic stop, officers became aware of Hunter’s alleged involvement in the ‘Boogaloo Bois’ group and started to investigate. Another member of the group, Steven Carillo, had been charged with the murder of a protective service officer in northern California around the same time.

The investigation was completed with help from the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force and ATF.

Hunter was arrested on October 21st, 2020 in San Antonio, and has yet to be sentenced.
