Local theatre during the pandemic

by

One of the many industries shut down by COVID-19 is theatre and live arts. The Paramount Center for the Arts in St. Cloud is just one of many venues that has closed down due to local and state restrictions to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Although live crowds may not be able to gather in the Paramount, the venue teamed up with Great Theatre to team up and to put on a virtual fundraiser. The two organizations were able to put together a live Broadway musical revue where performers were live at the theatre and were broadcasted to people at their homes.

With about twenty local performers, the organizations put on the show to try and be a fundraiser for themselves. Both organizations had to basically shut down back in March due to the virus.

UTVS reporter Kenny Johnson has the full story on how the fundraiser went and clips from the live show. Check out the full story below for interviews with performers and comments from the organizations executives.
