(UTVS) The mother of Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns has died. Jacqueline Cruz-Towns passed away due to complications of COVID-19 earlier today on April 14th. Cruz-Towns went into a medically induced coma on March 25 due to the virus.
Towns’ father also tested positive for the COVID-19 back March and was hospitalized but is now recovering.
A spokesman for the family announced the news this afternoon stating,
“The Towns family is extremely grateful for the outpouring love and support they have received during this difficult time. They would like to thank the medical warriors at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and JFK Medical Center, who fought for Jackie day in and day out, and help Karl Sr. recover from the same virus that took Jackie’s life.”
