BREAKING: Joe Biden declared winner

It has been declared by various outlets including the Associated Press and NBC News that former Vice-President Joe Biden has won the 2020 Presidential race and will serve as the 46th president of the United States alongside vice-president elect Kamala Harris.

The win comes after states like Pennsylvania and Georgia turned from red to blue over the week after mail-in ballots started to get formally counted.

Current President Donald Trump has yet to respond to the news. Joe Biden tweeted the statement below.

The next Presidency will be historic as Kamala Harris will be the first woman and person with both Black and South-Asian heritage to become Vice President. According to the Associated Press, she will be the “highest ranking woman to ever serve in government” in the United States.

This is also a historic Presidential race due to record numbers of voter turnout in multiple states. Now President-elect Joe Biden received the most votes ever for a Presidential candidate, breaking the record for Barack Obama’s numbers back in 2008. Joe Biden currently has around 74.5 million votes to Donald Trump’s 70.5 million, but those numbers could shift pending ballots still being counted.
