Sauk Rapids high school seniors sign national letters of intent

The Sauk Rapids- Rice high school shined light on athletes in the class of 2020 who were congratulated with letters of intent. Fourteen seniors were honored and will be collegiate athletes this fall.

Football, basketball, soccer and ice hockey were some of the many sports that the students committed to. Colleges ranged from University of Wisconsin-Stout, North Dakota Sate University, and Augsburg University.

One of the students, Anna Lucas will swim division one at Missouri State. Some athletes stayed local with their schools. Benjamin Gilbertson and Derek Durrant signed with Saint John’s University in St. Joseph, MN.

Benjamin will wrestle and Derek will play baseball. Durham Welch also is staying local while he signed to St. Cloud State to play on the first men’s soccer team.

Eleven of the athletes will participate in division three sports mostly within the MIAC conference.
