Have you recently taken an Uber and felt unsafe?
Uber has been designed to create a new fun way to arrive safely at your destination from a sober driver. Many people use Ubers for their nightlife, going downtown and drinking and not having to worry about getting into trouble with the law. However, there recently has been a few cases where intoxicated girls have mistakenly gotten into a car that claimed to be their Uber driver. To help avoid these situations, here are a few tips:
- Always check out the license plate on the car. The app should tell you the exact license plate number, along with the make and model of the car.
- Ask questions. Ask the driver who they are picking up and what their name is. They also should tell you what your destination is to make sure it is, in fact, your Uber.
- Double check the child lock in the back door of the car. The lock is located on the side of the door, and the lock should be switched down for the child lock to be off.
It is also very important to double check your surroundings and to make sure that you are heading in the correct direction. If you order an Uber for a friend, drivers ask that you text or call them with their name as to avoid any confusion.
Uber should be an easy, safe way to get to your destination, and we all should start becoming more aware of our Uber drivers and the correct car that we go into.
