St. Cloud State is celebrating their second annual recovery breakfast here at St. Cloud State, where students and faculty can encourage and help community members with their recovery. This particular breakfast is focusing on the opioid crisis all over the nation, where one hundred and fifteen people die everyday from opioid use. This makes the opioid crisis the leading cause of death in the united states.
The St. Cloud State Recovery center has brought an organization all the way from the twin cities area; which is Change the Outcome. Change the Outcome brought students to talk and support others at the event and share their recovery stories.
To help prevent opioid addiction you can do the following:
- learn about the dangers of opioid prescriptions
- Verify proper usage by following prescription directions
- Do not increase frequency of the prescriptions. Consult with your doctor before making changes to your medications
- Do not use other peoples prescriptions
If you or anyone you know would like to get involved in fighting the opioid crisis, you can visit the recovery community on St. Cloud States website.
