A historic moment in the world of women’s professional hockey. The Isobel cup was up for grabs for the first time on Sunday afternoon. Five former huskies helped the Minnesota Whitecaps host the Buffalo Beauts, both in pursuit to win the first NWHL Championship. After a full 60 minutes, the third period came to a close with a deadlock tie which pushed the two teams into overtime. Just 49 seconds into the extra minutes, Minnesota native Lee Stecklein sneaks one past the Beaut’s goaltender, securing a 2-1 win, clinching the first Isobel Cup and the NWHL Championship.
