Hennipen County Jail Escapee Has Short Lived Freedom

MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA – The short lived freedom for Hennepin County Prison escapee has come to an end.

The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office recaptured an inmate that escape at approximately 7 a.m. Wednesday morning. Michael Simon, 57, was caught on surveillance footage running down streets.

The U.S. Marshal Service and local law enforcement officers and agencies eventually arrested Simon in Little Canada around 10 a.m.

Simon was originally booked into the jail in September on charges of financial credit card fraud and a state corrections hold for burglary.
