(UTVS) ST. CLOUD – As the month of April is Alcohol Awareness Month, St. Cloud State University is finding many ways to participate on campus. The “U Choose” center at St. Cloud State University aims to help students connect with appropriate campus and community resources as well as educate them on responsible behaviors when it comes to the impact of high-risk alcohol and drug behaviors. Throughout this month, U-Choose is participating every day with informational booths around campus as well as social events that students are able to visit and learn more about the dangers of alcohol consumption.
“We (U-Choose) understand the college culture here that students may choose to drink and we just want to make sure that they know their standard drinks sizes, know what they’re drinking and if they choose to drink, they make responsible decisions,” said U-Choose Intern Alex Unger.
With the many different alcoholic drinks and hidden alcohol percentages, drinking can be dangerous to those unaware of the impact it can have on their body. Ken Warzecha, District Liquor Supervisor at Coborn’s gives a message to anyone who decides to consume alcohol, “Be mindful of what you’re drinking, how much you’re drinking, make sure that you have somebody with you that can drive you home if you’ve had too much to drink..”
U-Choose is holding several events throughout the remainder of the month that students can attend to learn more about alcohol awareness as well as participate in fun activities. If you are interested in attending any of the upcoming events or to get more involved, you can visit the “U-Choose Events & Activities” page here.
