(UTVS) – Earlier this morning, deputies responded to an intersection in Lake Elmo where a man was reportedly armed with a weapon and making suicidal threats. Officers attempted to speak to the man and use non-lethal methods to stop him. Later, one deputy fired and shot the man who was later pronounced dead at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.
Police Chief Brian Mueller did not provide any information as to why the man was shot. The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (https://dps.mn.gov/divisions/bca/Pages/default.aspx) will provide more information after conducting interviews.
