Unpaid Healthcare Premiums


Over 30 million dollars in MinnesotaCare Premiums were not paid, due to a computer issue that has been going on for almost four years. State officials say they have decided not to pursue collecting the 30 million dollars because identifying and locating those who did not pay could potentially cost more than the 30 million dollars owed. Another concern is, billing families for bills that are years old could cause stress because people using MinnesotaCare because the enrollees are in poverty or barely above the poverty level. The Minnesota Department of Human Services says the computer issue has been fixed.
