Chicken salad contaminated with salmonella has resulted in the death on one person and has sickened 265 more.
The outbreak started in Iowa based food company Triple T Specialty Meats and was distributed by Fareway Stores.
Nearly 50 people are filing lawsuits against the two companies and will be represented by Bill Marler and Steve Wandro, two food safety attorneys.
The outbreak reached eight states including Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) says the outbreak lasted from early January to mid-March and it appears to have ended.
