(UTVS) St. Cloud – Excited could be an understatement for Notre Dame Women’s Basketball team after the NCAA National Championship game last night. The Fighting Irish claimed one of the biggest comebacks in title game history after rallying from a 15-point deficit in the third quarter and a 5-point deficit with under two minutes left in the game against Mississippi State. With minutes left in the contest, Notre Dame junior guard, Marina Mabrey nailed a 3-pointer from the wing followed by sophomore guard Jacki Young who took a shot in the lane to tie the game up. Arike Ogunbowale has been labeled the clutch player for the Fighting Irish the last couple weeks, and last night she proved it again, taking a 3-pointer from the corner with less than a second remaining in the game. That shot would top Mississippi 61-58 and earn Notre Dame their second national title in the last 17 years. Ogunbowale scored 14 of her 18 total points in the second half of last night’s game and earned herself the most outstanding player for the national tournament.
