Cleveland Cavaliers Ban Fan After Racial Taunts

A fan has been indefinitely banned from all events at the Cleveland Cavaliers home arena after yelling racial taunts at a visiting player during a game. Security personnel reviewed the footage from the game Sunday and confirmed that the fan did yell at San Antonio Spurs guard Patty Mills twice with a phrase that implied he was from Jamaica. Mills is in fact Australian with Aboriginal heritage. The fan will have his ban reviewed in a year’s time where the Cavaliers can decide whether to lift the ban or continue it. This is not the only time recently when a fan has been banned after racist taunts were thrown at players, the Chicago Blackhawks from the NHL took similar action towards four fans last week who made racist taunts to a visiting player.
