The 2018 Olympic Winter Games are officially under way in Pyeongchang, South Korea. The qualifying rounds of alpine skiing, biathlon, curling, luge, and ski jumping began in the last twenty-four hours in Pyeongchang and the surrounding areas where some individual events are hosted. The first rounds of the figure skating competition begin on television tonight with the men’s single short program and the pair skating short program.
The opening ceremony will air Friday night and bring all ninety-two countries’ representatives together amidst the sights and sounds of South Korea. The Winter Games will continue until the closing ceremony on Sunday, February 25th when the Olympic torch will begin its journey to Tokyo, Japan for the 2020 Summer Olympics.
