ST CLOUD- After over twenty years the Minnesota State High School League will have a new executive director. Dave Stead took on the role in 1988, but declared in August that he will be stepping down on February first and accepting a senior administrative role within the organization.
After months of the application process the MSHSL approved Sauk Rapids-Rice principle Erich Martens as the new director. Martens has been a school administrator for over ten years, eight of them being spent at Sauk Rpaids-Rice. Martens was also a past coach and a member of the league.
On Friday the league released a letter recommending Martens to the role stating, “Erich Martens’ credentials are impressive as his interviews” and that they “strongly believe he is an excellent choice to lead the MSHSL.”
Martens told the league after being approved earlier today that he is, “extremely humbled, and excited.”
