FERGUS FALLS, Minnesota – 64-year-old Danny Lee Bettcher from New York Mills in Minnesota is facing his 28th DWI charge.
Bettcher was charged last week with a felony-level drunken driving and refusing to submit to a preliminary breath test. He has been caught driving while drunk 28 times by the police which is a record in Minnesota.
He was reported by an off-duty sheriff’s deputy who saw Bettcher drinking before he left the VFW in New York Mills and already knew Bettcher’s history with drunk driving.
Bettcher was swerving in his car and ignored a stop sign on Highway 10. The alerted authorities arrested Bettcher after he was pulled over and admitted to the officers that he was over the limit and needs to go to Jail.
